Since 1965, dedicated clergy and volunteer teachers have provided a safe and welcoming opportunity for children in our parish to learn about their Serbian Orthodox faith, language and heritage.

We hold classes every Friday evening from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm during the school year. We accept students from kindergarten to grade eight. Classes are held in equipped classrooms in the hall adjacent to the church. Our current enrolment is approximately 150 students.

Curriculum focuses on the Orthodox Christian religion, as well as Serbian history, culture, language and the Cyrillic alphabet. Our teachers work closely with the children, using lesson plans and activities to teach weekly topics. We incorporate special traditions around holidays such as Christmas, Easter and Slava. We encourage parents, grandparents and caregivers to support learning by reading and writing with their children during the week.

During the religious portion of the school evening, our clergy dedicate their time to teach our children biblical stories, proper church etiquette and the history of specific traditions. Their teachings guide our children on the path of Orthodoxy, prayer and spiritual growth in Christ.

If you are interested in having your child enrolled, please download and complete the enrolment form and join us the first Friday in September, or any Friday throughout the school year, between 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm in our lower church hall. Please feel free to contact us via email.

Note: This is a fillable PDF form. Once completed, please save the file and email it to us, or print a copy and bring it to the school.

Saint Sava Day

Saint Sava was the first Serbian Archbishop, saint, and enlightener. Saint Sava is considered to be the founder of Serbian medieval literature and the protector of educational institutions.

Saint Sava established an independent autocephalous Serbian Orthodox Church in 1219. He wrote "Nomocanon" (1220) and "The Synod of Orthodoxy" (1221) which are legal and spiritual pillars of Serbian statehood.

The Serbian Orthodox Church venerates Saint Sava on January 27, Savindan, the day of Saint Sava. All schools in Serbia, Republika Srpska, and the Serbian diaspora mark Saint Sava Day. At our Church School, the day is celebrated like a Slava. A banquet is held and the highlight is a cultural program presented by our Church School students who recite traditional poems and sing songs to honour Saint Sava.
