Decorating the Badnjak
Decorating the Badnjak at St. Nicholas Cathedral
As we joyfully anticipate the Nativity of Christ, our parishioners gathered today to cut badnjak branches, which will be blessed and shared with the faithful during our Christmas Eve services. We are deeply grateful to all who took part in this beloved tradition. The badnjak, a sacred oak branch, carries profound spiritual meaning. It represents the tree the shepherds brought to warm the cave where Christ was born, serving as a powerful reminder of the warmth and light of His love that fills our homes and hearts in this holy season. May this time of preparation inspire peace, joy, and abundant blessings as we await the glorious birth of our Savior.
